Deliver a Net Zero NHS with my mhealth

We help clinical services hit their NHS Net Zero targets by using remote rehabilitation and consultation tools to reduce the need for face-to-face interventions. By incorporating digital therapeutics into NHS pathways, clinical services can deliver remote rehabilitation and consultation alongside existing care, supporting a reduction in clinic visits and patient travel.

my mhealth is committed to building a greener NHS

The NHS has set out to achieve Net zero by 2040 for the emissions the NHS controls directly (the NHS Carbon Footprint), with an 80% reduction by 2028 to 2032 and Net zero by 2045 for the emissions the NHS can influence (the NHS Carbon Footprint Plus), with an ambition to reach an 80% reduction by 2036 to 2039 and we can help.

In a sample year, we delivered over 225,000 remote rehabilitation and education sessions across the UK. This helped avoid an estimated 1,500,000 miles of travel, saving 465,000kg of CO2 emissions*

That’s the equivalent of planting over 220,000 fully grown trees

*Based on an average journey to and from rehabilitation classes of 6.7 miles in a medium size care averaging 46 mpg

The environmental value of my mhealth digital therapeutics

Our evidence-led approach is mapped to the GHG Protocol and audited by an external provider

We combine clinical excellence with a zero-emission operating model to help the NHS achieve its Net Zero targets

By operating without physical offices or company vehicles, we’ve eliminated our direct carbon footprint -

ensuring our digital care is as kind to the planet as it is to our patients.

Reduce inhaler and medicine wastage

Metered dose inhalers contribute 5% of the total NHS emissions¹.

Our platforms inhaler technique videos are proven to help patients correctly use their inhalers² which reduces inhaler wastage³.

my mhealth also contains educational content and monitoring tools that help reduce the risk of exacerbations, further reducing the use of inhaled devices.

Did you know?

There are over 300 million patient consultations each year, with an average journey time of 20 minutes

These can contribute nearly 3 MILLION tonnes of CO2e to the NHS secondary carbon footprint

With use of the my mhealth platform many of these journeys may no longer be necessary, drastically cutting carbon emissions and helping achieve the net zero goal

The my mhealth platform supports patients living with long-term conditions including:

 COPD

Diabetes

Heart disease

Asthma

We provide easy access to truly innovative technologies that can grow a greener NHS

Patient-led Digital Rehabilitation

1.5 Million Miles Saved

Over 225,000 rehabilitation and education sessions delivered in a single year. Our platform gives patients living with COPD and heart conditions the ability to participate in pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation safely from home-reducing the burden of travel while helping clinical services work toward their NHS Net Zero commitments.

Remote Reviews

Reducing the Secondary Footprint

Annual reviews for long-term conditions such as COPD and Asthma can be carried out completely remotely on the my mhealth platform, further cutting travel emissions. By identifying the patients most at need, you can reduce the number of journeys made by both patients and clinical teams, supporting even more patients with the added convenience of remote care.

Eco-Education & Training

Accredited education

Our QISMET accredited online education courses for Diabetes reduce the need for physical travel to premises and significantly cuts down on paper waste. Patients learn everything they need to manage their condition effectively from home, eliminating the carbon footprint of traditional classroom-based training.

 Digital Inhaler Technique

Our platform provides patients living with COPD and Asthma instant access to instructional videos for every inhaler device. Access to these videos has been shown to correct inhaler errors, which is a key factor in reducing medicine wastage and lowering the carbon footprint of respiratory care.

Delivering a 'Net Zero' National Health Service

Understanding the link between climate change and human health, in October 2020, the NHS became the first healthcare provider in the world to commit to delivering a net zero national health system. This means improving healthcare while reducing harmful carbon emissions and investing in efforts that remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.

We support the "For a Greener NHS" campaign and can help you achieve this important goal through our digital-first clinical platforms.

Committed to Science. Accountable to the Planet.

At my mhealth, we don't just support NHS Net Zero - we hold ourselves to the same standard.

We are proud to have our emissions targets officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the global gold standard for corporate climate commitments.

Our Commitment

my mhealth commits to maintaining zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions through 2030, alongside measuring and actively reducing our Scope 3 emissions from a 2024 base year - targets aligned to a 1.5°C pathway, the most ambitious threshold recognised by climate science. These are not aspirations. They are verified, science-based targets.

Why this Matters

Science-based targets aren't self-certified - they are independently reviewed and approved against global climate frameworks. For our NHS partners, this means choosing my mhealth is choosing a supplier that is genuinely accountable for its environmental impact, not just making promises.

Ethical Governance

By operating as a fully remote organisation, we have eliminated the environmental impact of physical office spaces and daily commuting. Our footprint is digital first, allowing us to focus our sustainability efforts on green-powered infrastructure and ethical, virtual operations.

  • For a detailed breakdown of our targets, methodologies, and progress, you can view our full statement below.

At my mhealth, sustainability is embedded in our purpose: to improve outcomes for people living with long-term conditions through clinically proven digital health solutions. As a fully remote digital health company, we operate a lean, low-impact business model, but we recognise that meaningful sustainability extends beyond emissions alone. Our approach is structured around the three core pillars of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) responsibility, aligned with the sustainability assessment methodology.

    Environmental Responsibility

We are committed to minimising our environmental footprint, guided by the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. While our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions are negligible due to our remote operating model (no offices or vehicles), we are actively addressing Scope 3 emissions - particularly those associated with:

    • Cloud computing and data hosting
    • Employee homeworking energy use
    • Procurement and digital supply chain activities
    • Occasional business travel

    Key actions include:

    • Partnering with cloud providers that operate on 100% renewable energy and publish verified sustainability data
    • Encouraging staff to adopt low-carbon homeworking practices and supporting energy-efficient equipment choices
    • Prioritising virtual engagement to minimise the need for travel
    • Considering environmental performance in supplier selection, including use of ISO 14001-certified vendors

We are committed to supporting the NHS Net Zero by 2045 target and are actively monitoring our formal science-based emissions reduction target in line with our UK national commitments SBTi ID 40024438

    Social Responsibility

As a digital health provider, social value is embedded in our products and services. Our platforms reduce health inequalities by making condition management more accessible, scalable, and equitable across geographies and demographics.

    Our commitments include:

    • Health equity: Our software is designed to improve access to care, particularly for underserved or remote populations.
    • Workplace wellbeing: We support a flexible, remote-first culture that promotes mental health, work-life balance, and productivity.
    • Diversity & inclusion: We are committed to inclusive hiring, equal opportunity, and maintaining a workplace culture that values every voice.
    • Digital accessibility: Our applications are built with usability in mind, incorporating accessibility standards for those with visual, cognitive, or motor impairments.

    Governance & Ethical Business Conduct

We maintain high standards of data governance, ethical decision-making, and compliance, all of which underpin trust with patients, clinicians, and partners.

    Core governance principles include:

    • Robust data privacy and security controls aligned with NHS Digital standards and UK GDPR
    • Transparent reporting on ESG matters, including traceable evidence for all sustainability claims
    • A Code of Conduct applicable to all employees and suppliers, covering ethics, integrity, and legal compliance
    • Regular internal reviews to monitor ESG performance and identify areas for continuous improvement

    Continuous Improvement & Reporting

We are working with sustainability experts to enhance the robustness and transparency of our sustainability programme. Our approach is evidence-led and supported by policies, documentation, and traceable performance indicators. We aim to:

    • Monitor our sustainability performance annually
    • Identify and implement measurable improvements across all ESG pillars
    • Report publicly and internally on our progress

    Conclusion

Sustainability is not a static goal for my mhealth - it is a continuous journey rooted in science, ethics, and impact. By embedding ESG principles into our business model, we aim not only to support a Net Zero NHS, but to drive long-term value for patients, partners, and the planet.
